Loving Your Community

In the bible, we are very clearly called to love God, and to love those around us. In this whole transition from life in Lethbridge, to our future in Edmonton, my wife and I have been feeling a strong call to do just that.

We've made the concious decision to live intentionally in our neighbourhood. If you're like us, you've lived places and never taken the time to get to know and love your neighbours. We want to change that.

I've often wanted to plan and host a block party, to get all of your neighbours together in one place. This is something that is really only the beginning. The biggest impacts will be made when you are hanging out in a more mellow, one on one, setting.

The purpose of this blog is to encourage you to maybe do the same. Maybe God isn't calling you to throw a block party where you can get to know your neighbours, and their children, but He is calling you to love those neighbours.

The hardest challenge in all of this will be those neighbours that you just don't get along with. Maybe their noisy, or messy, or you've just never seen eye to eye. I pray that God emparts his wisdom, patience, stength, and unconditional love, on you while you attempt to be a light in that neighbours life.

I am looking forward to the challenges, and the fun, that this journey will no doubt bring. I'm in. Are you?
